Bacchus

After François Girardon French
ca. 1680–1700
Not on view
This bust and its mate (31.100.194)—one crowned with vines, the other with roses—may signify two of the seasons. Their substantial Baroque classicism typifies sculpture made for Louis XIV about 1675.
