Bertinazzi (1713–1783) was an actor best known for his role as Harlequin in the commedia dell'arte (Italian comedy) that he performed from 1741 until his death. It is not certain where this highly accomplished portrait relief was made, but the short-lived Hewelke factory in Venice (1758–63) has been suggested.
