Glass mosaic panel

Roman

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 166

Since this revetment panel with its colorful floral design is said to have been found on the Palatine in Rome, it may have formed part of the interior decoration of one of the imperial palaces, perhaps even the Domus Aurea (Golden House) of the emperor Nero (r. A.D. 54–68).
