Terracotta kantharos (wine cup) with a satyr's mask on both sides

Lydian

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 152

The kantharos was associated closely with Dionysos, god of wine. Examples with a face on both sides were often produced in the East Greek cities of Asia Minor. The lower part of the vase is restored.
