Bronze helmet of Corinthian type
Not on view
The helmet represents a characteristic form of the late seventh and early sixth century B.C. Unusual, however, is the interior, because it shows three sections that have been joined together--the calotte, the lower wall, and the nose-piece. The projections along the edges are the remains of rivets that would have secured an added material such as bone or ivory.
