Baboon figurines are among the longest enduring form of art in ancient Egypt, dating back to the Predynastic Period and well into the first millennium and later. Baboons were adorers of the sun and associated with a few gods, predominantly with the god Thoth. This minute example could have allowed its owner to invite this god’s presence wherever they carried or placed it.
