This finger bowl and plate (1988.391.2b), both engraved with a finely detailed Great Seal of the United States, were probably part of the 520-piece service ordered in 1891 by President Benjamin Harrison. Their cut design, in the “Russian” pattern, was one of the most intricate available and defined the era of such richly cut glass.
