Text in Latin begins: "Nihil opus est, mihi Lector, etc." and an inscription indicates that the text was composed by Henry Bland, a cleric who had been a classmate of Sir Robert Walpole's at Eton College (secondary school) then at King's College, Cambridge. In 1722 Bland was headmaster at Eton.
