This amateur watercolor records an interior in Dr. Samuel Parr's substantial parsonage at Hatton, where he lived for three decades and ran a small private school for boys. Here three men read or play chess, and two women read and write. Portraits and paintings adorn the walls, and the style of dress and furnishings suggest a date in the 1820s.
