The title visible at upper left, 'The Coffee Line', is that of one of Sloan's better known paintings done in 1905 and winner of an honorable mention at the Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, 1905. The painting is in the Sloan estate, see: Morse 1969, p. 286.
