Engraved by Jost Amman Swiss
Designed by Wenzel Jamnitzer German

Not on view

Frame made up out of strapwork. The compartment is shaped like a leaf. The letterpress text added to it in Jamnitzer's Perspectiva is here replaced by veins to render the leaf more natural. The title page is meant to represent one of the Four Elements, in this case Earth and as such, various related decorative elements, like garlands with fruit and trophies with gardening tools, have been placed in and around the frame.
