Two-Thirds of a Ceiling Design with Trompe-l'Oeil Dome, from Nouveau Liure de Placfond, part of Œuvres du Sr. D. Marot

Not on view

Two-thirds of a design for a ceiling, with a trompe-l'oeil dome surrounded on three sides by a wide border. The two visible corners have medallions, with Venus and Cupid at the upper left, and three seated figures at the bottom left. From a series of six prints with designs for ceiling decorations. The prints do not show the whole ceiling, but rather a quarter or two-thirds of the design. Since most of them are symmetric, this suffices to understand the overall look of the ceilings.
