Textile Fragment
Not on view
Metal-wrapped thread lends a shimmering quality to this triangular textile fragment decorated with an ogival framework. Ogival medallions were used in a range of media, including bookbindings, metalwork, and textiles, during the Timurid period. The kitabkhana (imperial workshop and library) set decorative trends in the arts of the book that were then translated into these media, generating a cohesive artistic style.
