"Gushtasp Proves His Archery before Caesar," Folio 404r from the Shahnama (Book of Kings) of Shah Tahmasp
Next, Gushtasp joins the Rumi champions in an archery contest, and his skill catches the attention of the caesar. In a meeting with the caesar, Gushtasp identifies himself and admits that he has performed the feats of valor on behalf of his brothers-in-law. The caesar forgives him and invites him and his wife back to the palace. Privately, however, he worries about Gushtasp's mysterious origins.
