Mold for Jewelry

Not on view

This greenish gray, irregularly shaped mold made of soapstone was meant to produce crescent-shaped earrings. The holes in the mold allow for the accurate positioning and fixing of the other half of the mold during the casting of the earring. The signature "the work of Muúammad al-Maghribi [the North African]" is legible in the left corner.
