Bread Stamp

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 300

When pressed into a loaf of uncooked bread, the stamp would have left the mark “Jesus Christ Victorious.” Bread identified by such stamps was used for the consecrated bread in the Divine Liturgy (Eucharist).
