This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.The highly stylized lotuses and palmettes on the panel are carved with slanted, beveled edges that unite the forms and the background into a continuous whole. This beveled style, widely used at Samarra, spread throughout the Islamic world.
