UNTITLED

Bruce Conner American

Not on view

In this work a dense accumulation of marks forms labyrinthine patterns and passageways suggestive of both microscopic and macroscopic forms. Thanks in large part to the contrast of light and dark, Conner’s strokes seem to swirl and flicker, twitch and pulse, creating a deliberately visionary, hallucinogenic effect. The mirrored fillets that surround the edges of the drawing illusionistically extend the composition into space.
