ca. 1112
Not on view
As an example of the Tsurayuki-shū (Poems of Ki no Tsurayuki), it coincidentally complements the Ishiyama-gire example from the Burke Collection in The Met’s holdings, which is a page from the Ise-shū (Poems of Lady Ise). This detached page was originally part of a set of personal poetry collections of thirty-six prominent poets from ancient to Heian times, referred to as the Nishi-Honganji Edition of the Thirty-Six Poetic Immortals (Nishi-Honganji-bon Sanjūrokunin kashū).Of the collections of the Thirty-Six Poetic Immortals, Ishiyama-gire fragments comprise only poems by Lady Ise and Ki no Tsurayuki.
