Cup
Not on view
This double-walled small vessel could be a coffee cup; it may have had a matching saucer, having been made for the Western market. The fretwork pattern (raimonyō) around the mouth and the motifs on the body, including a fukusa (decorative wrapping cloth), a mirror, and a stylized flower, were produced with fine gilding. The handle is shaped like a stylized dragon.
