This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.
A Lakota woman beaded moccasin designs on this pair of mass-produced canvas shoes. Traditional triangular motifs run along the sole, and zigzag lines appear along the ankle. The red line in front of the laces echoes the tradition of beading a contrasting band of color across the top of a moccasin. This type of solid beading was common in the early twentieth century.
