Woman's Shoes
Returned to lender
This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.A Lakota woman beaded moccasin designs on this pair of mass-produced canvas shoes. Traditional triangular motifs run along the sole, and zigzag lines appear along the ankle. The red line in front of the laces echoes the tradition of beading a contrasting band of color across the top of a moccasin. This type of solid beading was common in the early twentieth century.
