In a stormy landscape a man in highland dress, accompanied by a dog, holds a dead stag by the antlers. Both look into the distance. Based on a painting exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1831 as "Poacher and Red Deer," and first engraved by Thomas Landseer in 1839.
