Not on view

A dog lies at the bottom of flight of stone stairs and looks up expectantly. The print is based on a painting that Landseer made for the Countess of Blessington, in her sale at Gore House, May 26, 1849. The Irish-born countess became the second wife of Charles Gardiner, 1st Earl of Blessington. After his death in 1829 she became a successful writer.
