Plate 44, View of the top of the Arch of Claudius in Rome and the inscription celebrating Claudius's rebuilding of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct. The lower part of the arch is obscured by a hill on which a group of figures gather around architectural ruins. Below this plate is an unnumbered image titled "Bas relief antique qui represente Le Bouclier Votif placé sur une Colonne [...]" These two images appear facing page 74, the first of two pages relating to the aqueduct Aqua Virgo.
