Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made of ovals of different sizes scattered over a light tan base. The largest ovals are rendered in dark reddish-brown and have a star-like figure of light tan color with stipples of dark reddish-brown color in the center. The ovals of a smaller size are rendered in dark reddish-brown. The smallest ovals are rendered in white color and outlined in black and are arranged in alternating vertical strips over the other ovals.
