A view of Fonthill House, Fonthill Gifford, Wiltshire, seen from across a lake, with woods in the foreground. This Palladian house, built after 1755, had a high classical portico and five wings. It was demolished in 1807 and replaced by Fonthill Abbey, built by William Beckford.
