Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains six textile designs with semi-abstract motifs. The first design is made up of a network of undulating, scalloping lines and superposed pentagons and hexagons that assimilate the shape of spiderwebs. The second design is made up of clod shapes executed with black stipples and star motifs. The third design is made up of interlacing scrolling leaves and small bundles of pairs of stylized flowers. The fourth design is made up of vertical stripes, outlined with thin black lines, and rendered with glitched lines, bordered by scales with black dots, on a clear ground with small, inverted v-shapes. The fifth design is made up of a vermicular pattern with dots and offsetting shades made up of stipples. The sixth design is made up of undulating stripes, outlined with glitched lines, containing interlacing branches with stylized flowers, on a clear ground with thin, diagonal, stripes. The designs are executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper.
