Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This page consists of textile (?) designs with abstract patterns and bundles of stylized flowers and leaves. On the upper part of the sheet is a thin horizontal strip, possibly a design for a border or ribbon, made up of short, vertical strips of three black lozenges, separated by semi-abstract scrolling leaves outlined with black. Under the strip are two textile designs with abstract patterns executed with clear patches on black grounds. On the lower part of the sheet are a variety of ornamental designs with bundles of stylized flowers and leaves of different kinds, and a garland with stylized flowers and leaves on the bottom. The designs are executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper, and were likely created to be used in printed textiles or wallpapers; the final designs would have likely been executed with lively colors.
