Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This page consists of five textile (?) designs with abstract patterns in black and white. The first design is made up of a black stripe with abstract round and lined glitched motifs executed with black and white, framed by two vertical strips of black round pearls, and a vertical stripe with an abstract network made up of thin, white lines, framed by two thin, black vertical stripes, and with a black, vertical stripe running through the middle, over a white ground with thin, black stripes. The second design is made up of vertical garlands with abstract flowers and leaves, outlined with white and with thin, black lines, and white pearls, framed by thin, white vertical stripes with black dashes, separated by a thin, white vertical line with semi-abstract animal footprints, on a black ground. The third design is made up of vertical, undulating, white stripes with semi-abstract rosettes executed with thin, black stripes, and bordered by thin, black horizontal stripes, on a black background with inverted V-shapes executed with white and thin, black, horizontal stripes. The fourth design is made up of vertical stripes with semi-abstract flowers, outlined with white and black crosshatches, framed by thin, vertical, strips of pairs of small, white rectangles, over a black ground. The fifth design is made up of a vertical stripe with stylized leaves, colored with white and outlined with black, over a white ground with thin, black, vertical lines, between two thin, vertical, white stripes with thin, black horizontal lines, and two vertical, zig-zagging lines colored with white and filled with thin, black vertical lines, over a black ground. The designs are executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper, and were likely created to be used in printed textiles or wallpapers; the final designs would have likely been executed with lively colors.
