In October 1844 Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel and made a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This image shows the king's son visiting a British armaments center at Woolwich, near Greenwich, on October 12th. The print is part of a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate Louis's visit. Related text, pp. 45-48 describes the subject.
