William Macready appears here as Rob Roy Macgregor, the Scottish outlaw, folk hero and title character of Isaac Pocock's "Rob Roy Macgregor, or, Auld Lang Syne", an operatic drama based on Sir Walter Scott's novel "Rob Roy" (1817). The production premiered at Covent Garden Theater on March 12, 1818 and ran for thirty-four performances.
