This print is the title page to a series of twelve cartouche designs by Agostino Mitelli. The first edition was published in Bologna before 1642, the year in which a set of copies were published in France. The plates passed to Agostino Parisini, and ended up in the collection of Giovanni Giacomo de' Rossi in Rome before 1677. This print is bound into an historic album. It was not originally part of the album's content, but was added by the Museum as comparison to the second edition of the title page, present on page 58.
