Lady Fortescue

Engraver James McArdell Irish
After Sir Joshua Reynolds British
Sitter Ann Fortescue (neé Campbell), Lady Fortescue British

Not on view

McArdell's print is based on a portrait that Reynolds began in 1757. Lady Fortescue is shown almost whole length, wearing a satin dress fastened with jeweled clasps, and a veil adorned with pearls. Seated in a landscape, her right elbow rests on a large stone, with foliage at left and a tree behind at right.
