View of (Neo-) Romanesque and (Neo-) Gothic Castle

Anonymous, British, 19th century British

Not on view

View of a castle with various towers. It is unclear whether the drawing reflects an existing building or whether it is an imagined site. Stylistically the castle appears to be a conglomerate of Romanesque and Gothic phases, but it could also be a historicizing design combining inspiration from both periods. The castle is depicted on a raised and fortified plateau. On the left side, two figures have been indicated, walking the grounds.
