Welcome to Connecting Cultures!

A group of High School Interns in front of The Met

«What do you think matters? We posed this question to the 36 rising seniors and recent high school grads in last summer's High School Internship Program. They brought up everything from inequalities in society to environmental conservation to the importance of arts education.»

We challenged the interns to find connections between at least two works of art from different cultures in The Met collection. Then, they created projects that highlighted those connections based on the ideas and issues that they think matter. We're excited to share three of these collaborative projects—which, interestingly enough, all address issues around beauty, gender, and power—on the Teen Blog. Check back here in the coming weeks!

Do you think there are artworks in The Met collection that connect to these ideas? Visit the Museum or search the online Collection to explore more. Then, share what you think matters.
