«Last month we launched two new sections of metmuseum.org: Met Blogs, which collects and presents posts from blogs across the site, and Community, which highlights our activity on a wide array of social media channels. These new sections are designed to invite visitors to find new ways to connect with the Museum.»
Even though we've been blogging since 2007, it's now possible to see the breadth and depth of our content in one place, getting a bird's-eye view of the Museum's current projects, events, research, and behind-the-scenes activities. Visitors can see highlights of upcoming events, live vicariously through the contributors to our Travel with the Met blog, or follow our experiments with Google Glass at the Met. Best of all, Met Blogs allows readers to search for posts by author, department, or topic; fans of medieval art, for instance, will find relevant posts on several blogs, while readers interested in 3D printing can see what authors on three different blogs have written on the subject.
Our Community page makes it easy to follow MetMuseum on several social media platforms. Real-time updates show what's happening on the Met's main Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, and Flickr Group Pool accounts, and links to additional channels maintained by specific groups within the Museum are available as well. The Community page also includes a list of external sites, such as ArtBabble and Google Art Project, that feature Met content.
Whether you're a longtime Facebook fan or have just started following MetMuseum, if you commented on blog.mode back in 2007 or this is the first post you've read, we're excited to connect with you. Let us know what you think!
