Head Ornament
Diadems such as this one were worn by Amazigh (Berber) women in Morocco as part of an elaborate headdress which also consisted of fabric scarves and other jewels. The small pendants at the front of this ornament would rest on or near the forehead of the wearer. This diadem is embellished with yellow and green enamel, a decorative technique that was believed to have been introduced to Morocco from Spain. Large pieces of red-orange colored glass contribute to the bright, polychrome appearance of this jewel.
