Esta mujer desnuda, pintada en grisalla y compuesta por esferas, conos y tubos, produce un gran impacto visual. La simplicidad de la composición concuerda con la paleta de colores reducida al rojo, amarillo, blanco y negro. El cuadro forma parte de un grupo de representaciones de figuras femeninas monumentales—algunas de ellas leyendo, otras tomando el té—que tipifican el estilo del artista durante su periodo «mecánico» entre 1918 y 1923.
