Relief depicting cattle farming

Old Kingdom
ca. 2323–2150 B.C.
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 103
This relief comes from a scene of cattle-tending or cow milking. The older man leaning on his staff is the overseer of the whole operation. To the left are the hindquarters of a cow, and to the right is the upper part of another man, perhaps kneeling to hold a tether.
