This print depicts famed Kabuki actor Bandō Mitsugorō II (1750–1829), identifiable by the crest of three interlocking circles on his left sleeve. This crest is seen in other representations of the actor by Katsukawa Shunshō (JP2693) and Tōshūsai Sharaku (JP3124).
