Plate from Nouveaux dessins d'arquebuseries...
This plate comes from a series of designs for gunsmiths. It is composed of an elaborate oval cartouche showing a nobleman sitting at a table with a pile of game birds at his feet and a valet presenting him another. Two attendants on either side of the scene carry guns. Under the cartouche is a pedestal within which is a frame with another scene, a hunt with three man on horseback watching four dogs pursue a stag. Around the page are several trophies related to hunting and war.
