This plate comes from a series of designs for gunsmiths. On the left of the plate is the butt plate of a long gun, on the right the butt cap of a pistol, a frizzen and an escutcheon. There are more general ornaments at the center. Those are made with foliate scrolls, bandwork and grotesque masks.
