Original glass negative. The subjects are a woman in white dress whose hands are folded around a clutch and a man in a black suit who sits behind the woman. The female sitter’s gaze is noticeably off-camera. Their Western dress is quite refined with particular attention drawn to their fashionable shoes, the sheer flower overlay of her dress, and the metallic jewelry on her wrists, neck and coiffure. A raffia-straw mat enters the scene from the bottom of the photo and transitions to a hard floor that supports the large staircase in the background of the image.
