A Conversation on Philip Guston with Dana Schutz and Salman Toor

Join artists Dana Schutz and Salman Toor and Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Brinda Kumar for a conversation on the legacy of Philip Guston (1913–1980), who was known for work that grappled with the complexities of the human condition. With the landmark promised gift of 220 Guston paintings and drawings from his daughter, Musa Guston Mayer, The Met has become the largest repository of works by one of the twentieth century’s most influential artists, offering unique opportunities to consider the full span of his career and the continuing resonance of his work. The evening’s program brings together perspectives on the pressing issues of Guston’s time and our own to reflect upon how artists process and guide the cultural moment.

Presented in conjunction with Philip Guston at The Met.

This program is made possible by the Guston Family Fund.
