This partially preserved head once belonged to a statue of imposing size. Even in its fragmentary condition, this elegant artwork is a study in rich contrasts – fine, subtle, even barely perceptible forms such as the hairline and eyebrows are juxtaposed with the boldly carved nose – all of which characterize of Saite Period statuary.
