The subject stands in front of a highly polished black chair, leaning back slightly so as to rest his hands on the arms of the chair. He wears a tailored black suit, complete with pinstripe pants and dotted necktie. The studio setting consists of a raffia-straw rug, a spindly potted tree, and a painted backdrop depicting some architecture and foliage.
