Octagonal box with lid

19th century
Not on view
This small box is decorated with ray skin, a material that often adorns lacquerware and furniture of the late Joseon dynasty. The scalloped feet and detailed brass fittings further evidence the meticulous design and expert craftsmanship. A fox face is incised on the latch.
