Italian Hill Town

ca. 1925
Not on view
Davies often visited Italy, particularly after 1923 when he was in poor health and found it a restful place to work. The handling and scale of this work help to date it to about 1925. Like "The Umbrian Mountains" of 1925 (Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.), this painting shows the influence of the artist's experiments in watercolor, one of his main interests during the last years of his career.
