Studies of a Dead Bird

1878
Not on view
Traditionally dated 1878, this unfinished sketch is a study of a specimen arranged in two positions. The sketchiness of this rendering makes it difficult to identify the species of the bird with absolute certainty, but it appears to be a Eurasian blue tit.
