この作品は、フランスの現存する完全な形の行進用甲冑のうち最も精巧なもののひとつです。表面は繊細な型押し模様で覆われており、植物の葉の渦巻き模様の間にイタリアのルネッサンス末期とマニエリスト美術の装飾に由来する古典の人物と架空の動物のモチーフがあしらわれています。また、ヘンリー2世が好んだ三日月の記号も図案に組み込まれており、デザインの原本が20枚現存しています。その1枚はジャン・クーザン(父)作で、その他はエティエンヌ・ドローヌまたはバプティスト・ペレリンによるものです。いずれも16世紀中頃にパリで活躍した著名な画家でした。
